About Me
Don't Let Hand Pain Keep You from Flossing

I am proud to say that I have all my own teeth at the age of 65. While that may not sound unusual to some people, everyone in my family who is my age or older wears dentures. I always tell people that that flossing is the key to good dental health. I have arthritis in my hands, but I don't let it keep me from flossing every day. My trick is to use those little "flossers" you can buy at the drug store. They have plastic handles floss stretched out on top of the handle. These make flossing easier on days when my arthritis is acting up. I started this blog to let other people know that they can keep their teeth healthy into old age when they take care of them. If you have hand pain, find ways to make flossing easier, like I did.

The Unexpected Benefits Of Cosmetic Dental Services

Francis Miles

You may be embarrassed by how your teeth currently look, and you might want to make several changes to improve both the appearance of your smile and your overall oral health. However, if you are still hesitating as you prepare to contact a cosmetic dentist service, there are several other benefits of a great smile you might not be aware of.

Appear More Confident

The greatest part of having your teeth restored is that you will smile more often. Smiling can have several unexpected benefits. For example, you'll appear more confident when you smile often, and others will see you as the type of person likely to get things done. You'll also feel more self-assured, and you'll have a greater drive to get things done and focus on professional pursuits.

See Health Benefits

When you smile more often, you'll see other health effects as well. For example, laughing and smiling helps to lower your blood pressure. Laughter leads to an increase in your heart rate followed by muscle relaxation.

When you're stressed out, the stress that you feel can show in your face and can also make you less likely to smile. Smiling helps make you look less tired, worn-out, and stressed. Also, the act of smiling itself can relieve stress. Smiling has the power to reduce stress even when you don't feel like smiling. Stress increases your heart rate and blood pressure, so having less stress will improve your health overall.

Feel Better

Smiling will put you in a better mood. The act of smiling can trick your brain into thinking that you're in a better mood than you think. The act of smiling releases dopamine and serotonin. It also improves neural communication.

Help Others Smile

Smiling can be contagious. When you're smiling all the time, you might notice others smiling as well. A part of the brain that is responsible for smiling is an automatic response area that can cause an individual to smile automatically. Seeing others smile will help put you in a better mood.

There are many treatments that cosmetic dentists can use to improve your smile. The in-office teeth bleaching treatments are more effective than over-the-counter methods. In some cases, you might also want to have your teeth reshaped to improve the appearance of your smile. Another option is to cover your teeth with veneers that look like natural teeth but in a better condition.
