About Me
Don't Let Hand Pain Keep You from Flossing

I am proud to say that I have all my own teeth at the age of 65. While that may not sound unusual to some people, everyone in my family who is my age or older wears dentures. I always tell people that that flossing is the key to good dental health. I have arthritis in my hands, but I don't let it keep me from flossing every day. My trick is to use those little "flossers" you can buy at the drug store. They have plastic handles floss stretched out on top of the handle. These make flossing easier on days when my arthritis is acting up. I started this blog to let other people know that they can keep their teeth healthy into old age when they take care of them. If you have hand pain, find ways to make flossing easier, like I did.

5 Cosmetic Dentistry Procedures To Brighten Your Smile

Francis Miles

Did you know that over half of Americans are insecure about their teeth? That's a huge number! Unfortunately, having stained, missing, misaligned, or unevenly spaced teeth also affects the quality of your smile, causing even more self-consciousness issues. Thankfully, cosmetic dentistry can fix your teeth and improve your smile in the process. Here are five cosmetic dentistry procedures to brighten your smile.

Teeth Whitening

Over time, your teeth may develop stains or discolorations from smoking, consuming foods and beverages, or taking certain medications. Teeth whitening treatments remove these stains to leave you with pearly white teeth.

While there are various at-home teeth whitening treatments, the best option is to have the procedure done in a dental office. The dental professional will examine your gums and teeth to see if you're eligible for the treatment. Moreover, dental professionals have stronger bleaching materials and other specialized tools such as lasers and special lights to guarantee effective and more long-lasting results.

Dental Veneers

If you have chipped, stained, crooked, or poorly shaped teeth, dental veneers can fix the problem. These are custom shells made of porcelain that dentists use to cover the front side of a tooth. To complete the procedure, your dentist will take an impression of your tooth, which they will use to make the veneer. They will then fit the veneer to the tooth and cement it in place.

Dental Bonding

This is one of the simplest cosmetic dentistry procedures and usually only requires a single appointment. It's used to fix minor flaws like chips, cracks, gaps, or stains. During this treatment, your dentist applies a composite to the affected tooth and then molds it into the right shape. They then use ultraviolet light to harden the composite.

Dental Implants

Having missing front teeth can severely affect the attractiveness of your smile. Dental implants brighten your smile by replacing the missing teeth. Typically made from titanium, implants are screw-like devices placed into your gums to replace the roots of the missing teeth. Upon healing and bonding with the jawbone, the dentist places a natural-looking crown that functions like your original tooth. No one will be able to tell that you have implants.

Invisalign Aligners

Invisalign is a newer treatment method for straightening and realigning teeth. It allows you to get that straight, beautiful smile without the inconvenience of traditional braces. Your dentist will provide a different set of Invisalign aligners at different stages of your treatment.

Apart from boosting the attractiveness of your smile, Invisalign can correct jaw alignment issues and irregularities such as crossbite, overbite, underbite, and more!
